"Many start riding for the first time at their first [club] lesson," said senior Melody Maxwell, who serves as the co-president of Equestrian Club alongside senior Tayler O'Connell.
Members of the equestrian team ride at lessons once a week and compete at Western Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Shows if they choose. The team practices at the home of trainers Kim and Mark Lemmon, who also lend the team their horses for members to ride.
The team had its first show of the semester on Saturday at the University of Findlay.
"The shows are really interesting because we draw for our horse (like the idea of drawing straws) so usually we are riding a horse we have never ridden before," said Maxwell. "The show was lots of fun."
Any interested students should contact Melody Maxwell at mjmaxwel@owu.edu for more information on how they can get themselves on a horse.
